The Impact of Intergenerational Inheritance on the Scale of Farmland Management in the Context of Aging: Evidence from Eastern China

The dilemma of aging and lack successors must be understood to improve the scale efficiency competitiveness China’s agriculture. This paper uses a survey 1347 farmers in Liaoning, Jiangsu, Jiangxi applies tobit probit models explore impact intergenerational inheritance on farmland management terms current willingness for expansion. results show that (1) an increased probability agriculture can significantly increase operations, with greater effect than expand; (2) upgrading agricultural is regions frequent nonagricultural activities families middle or low-scale operations; (3) promotion elderly 60 years old above who are 40–59 old, while expansion exists only latter.
